Stephen Heusinger is an executive with over twenty years of leadership and senior management experience.
Consistently leveraging technology, Steve has been able to take traditional, commodity-based businesses and grow them into differentiated, high-margin companies. Throughout his career, he has repeatedly found unique ways to maximize a company’s organic growth, while developing new recurring revenue streams and services. He is noted for his abilities to improve profitability and maintain high morale. Steve is able to quickly pull together a team, create alignment around a vision, and efficiently execute using minimal resources. Steve formed Backroads Capital Partners, LLC in 2005, to serve as a growth platform for participation and investment in unique investment opportunities and high growth companies.
Steve most recently was CEO and Managing Principal of Ryan Tax Credit Services, where he oversaw a strategic investment intermediary for sourcing, structuring, and marketing tax-motivated investments, serving investors, project developers, buyers, and sellers of tax credit based products.
Prior to Ryan, he was previously President for two divisions of a private equity group that owned Quiznos, a $2 billion restaurant chain; Source One Distribution and Kinetic Sourcing Solutions.
Steve excels at strategy for both early-stage and mature companies. Prior to Quiznos, he founded a high-tech services company selected as one of the Top 100 Companies in Dallas for its exceptional growth. Steve has implemented strategies for growth and restructuring among technology, manufacturing, distribution, and service organizations. The early years of his career included sales, marketing and business development within divisions of Newell/Rubbermaid, Illinois Tool Works, and Emerson Electric. Steve’s sales skills earned him the honor of National Sales Leader in positions at both Newell/Rubbermaid and Illinois Tool Works.

He has published articles on renewable energy incentives, including “States Offer Rich Incentives for Going Green:
Is Your Company Leaving Money on the Table with Unrealized Credits and Incentives?” in the September-October 2010 issue of Journal of State Taxation, and “Digging Deep” in the September 2010 of Accounting Today.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Goizueta Business School, Emory University. Steve is completing work on a book, Failure Is Not an Exit Strategy, www.FailureIsNotAnExitStrategy.com, which details his methods for optimizing the operational and financial performance of a business.
